1/4" on a toothpick is all you need in anything to add a lot of heat. I must confess, I use that amount on my tongue at least once a month for the endorphin rush. Doing so also makes it possible to taste most any other sauce without feeling their heat in such a way as to require candy or crackers to cool off!
